How to Use the Map
You can move around the map by using the arrow keys on a keyboard, or holding down the left button of a mouse and dragging
the mouse, or dragging using a finger on a touch screen.
Use the zoom controls to change the detail on the map:
Click the plus (+) to see more detail or the minus (-) to see less detail. Alternatively use a mouse wheel if you have one or two fingers on a touch screen.
Use the layer button in the top right to explore the
different types of map information that are available
Click on the circle markers to find out about places or
people. Clicking on the link above the photograph will give more information about the place or person.
Layers
The background map can be selected as either "Open Street Map" which is the default map or "ESRI Aerial"
which is an aerial view produced by the Environmental Systems Research Institute
The 1880's Ordnance Survey Map and the 1841 Tithe Map can be overlaid onto a background map. The opacity(transparency) of the tithe map can be altered using the
slider below the map.
Places or People markers can be switched on and off.
